Wisconsin Bankruptcy Lawyers

Heywood, Cari & Anderson has helped vast numbers of individuals file for bankruptcy or avoiding it, if possible. Bankruptcy Law provides a legal method for an individual to either discharge the debts by liquidating assets and distributing them among creditors, or resolve them by developing a plan involving the repayment of creditors over time.

The primary purposes of bankruptcy laws are to relieve honest individuals in debt and to provide them with a fresh start. Attorneys at Heywood, Cari & Anderson can help any bankruptcy client, individual or business, to make the best plan for their specific situation. We handle the following types of bankruptcy.

  • Chapter 7
  • Chapter 11
  • Chapter 12
  • Chapter 13

Chapter 128

In Wisconsin another alternative to bankruptcy is what is commonly referred to as a Chapter 128. A Chapter 128 is not a consumer credit counseling plan and it is not a bankruptcy, but it has many of the advantages of both. A Chapter 128 is a repayment plan through the Wisconsin Circuit Court system that stops interest on debt and allows the debt to be repaid over a maximum term of three years.

“Heywood, Cari & Anderson, S.C. is a debt relief agency. We help people file for bankruptcy relief under the Bankruptcy Code.”

Chapter 128 is a voluntary debt consolidation plan through the Wisconsin Circuit Court system. It is not a consumer credit counseling plan and it is not bankruptcy. There are two major differences:

  • Bankruptcy is Federal. Chapter 128 is strictly a State of Wisconsin plan.
  • Chapter 128 is the opposite of bankruptcy: you are repaying the debts.
